DIY Wedding Invitations Design Your Own

Are you looking for DIY wedding invitations that you can add your own design to? Here you will find a variety of options to choose from. We have two sided invitations, with a choice of card stock and edge trim; greeting cards with a choice of size and semi gloss or matte, and postcard styles. Are you new to designing online? You'll also find designing tips below the various style options.

For the two sided invitations, you can choose from the square or rounded corner shape. The one pictured is the rounded corner. You can also choose from normal, rounded, bracket, ticket, and tag. You can see the other edge designs by clicking on the link below, and then choosing the edge of your choice, that you'll find on the right hand side.

There is a choice of twelve finishes for a variety of looks, texture, and budgets. The Signature Semi-Gloss is the most economical finish. There are textured choices, shimmer choices, and also metallic. The thickness will vary depending upon which paper type you select.

The greeting card style comes in a choice of three sizes: note card, 5 x 7, and Big (8.5 x 11). It only comes in a choice of matte or semi gloss for the finish. There are some pink and red hearts on this card that you can customize and move around, or delete. You can also adjust their size by customizing.

The postcards are the most economical. They have a choice for gloss or a matte finish; they measure 4.25" x 5.6".

With all three options, you can make personalized design changes. You can choose a different font style and/or color, choose a background color, and/or add your own image(s). To make any of these changes, click on the card option of your choice, then click on Customize It. Then click on the Add Image or Add Text Button, as needed. Click on the X button in any individual template field that you want to delete. If you want to change the font, choose the font style (f) first, then choose the appropriate size.

Customizing Background Color
If your image is a JPEG and takes up the whole design space, then there is no room for a background color. If your image is surrounded by white, there is a way to change the white. See - Making White Transparent - in the next section.

To choose a different background color, click on Customize. If a text box or image box is showing, you will see a color palette. * Click on a basic color that you like, then click on Advanced to view the sliding scale to choose a different shade. If there is no text or image already showing (if you are creating from a blank product), you will firs need to add an image or text - either will do. Then click on the image or text field in the layout, and the color palette will come up. Go back to the * and follow the directions.

As you customize items, make sure to keep important images and text within the dotted lines on the layout.

Making White Transparent
If there is white around your image and you want to change it to a different color - while in customizing mode, click on the image in the layout field. The Click on the ...More button. One of the options will be - Show whites as transparent. Click on that and the whites will become transparent. Colors that have white in them will also become lighter. You can then Customize the Background color - described above.

Adding and Changing Images:

Add larger images first. If the image fills the whole background, add it first so that it won't cover any text or smaller images. To move an item, you can left click directly on the product image and drag it. If a larger image is blocking the ability to move a smaller image, etc., you will need to temporarily move that image (the one you want to edit) to a higher position in the Description Field area.

To automatically center an item, Click on the Image or Text in the layout field, and then on the middle of the Plus, +, sign looking button (It has four arrows coming from it.) The item will center. You can use the arrows in the Plus sign box to move the item further up, down, left, or right.

Deleting an image or text:
The easiest way to delete an item is to click on its Title in the Description Box and then on the X in its Title Box.

First, add your text if there is none there. Click on the text or the appropriate Title in the Description Box. You will see a Font Title next to the Edit Text located below the Layout Field. Click on the down arrow next to the Font Title. A drop down menu will appear. Click on the basic selection on the left and then click on your desired font choice. Click on the open screen away from the Font Choice Box and the menu box will go away and your Font will be changed to your new selection.

Click on the text to change in the layout, or its Title in the Description Field.Look below the Layout Field and find the box with the small and large capital Ts. Click on the up arrow to increase the font size and the down arrow to decrease the font size.

Choosing Font Color:

Click on the appropriate Title Field or on the Text in the Layout Field. Look for the colored rectangle box next to the small T large T box, Click on the color. A palette will come up. Click on your color choice. The advance option will let you select from various shades. Pick your basic color range first, like a red, blue, etc., then Click on the Color Picker to be able to slide the icon to the shade that you want. Once you have made your selection, click somewhere on the blank screen and the palette box will go away and your font color will be changed.

Choosing the Orientation:

Some products have two different options for how the product is made, i.e. postage stamps can be made as portrait or landscape orientation. If the option is available for the specific product that you are customizing, their will be a button that will say either Portrait or Landscape, or Horizontal, Vertical. Sometimes the option is presented at the start of the product, other times it is shown once you have added an image, and then you will find it to the right, in the Description area.

Happy creating.
